Hi guys!
So today is a little different, I thought that since I hadn't uploaded in a while that I would write an essay about something that I feel very strongly about. Let me know if you like it! @Bella_Lily_
I truly believe that people should be able to wear whatever they want without any judgement. Men should be able to wear pink without any misconceptions that it makes them less manly, it doesn’t. In fact it does quite the opposite, pink makes a man stand out, therefore, making him more powerful. Pink is also great for catching the eye of a women, women have always loved pink - even when it was considered a masculine colour. Yes, pink was once a manly colour, in fact, in the 18th century men were known for wearing pink silk robes. Any man can wear pink because it goes with any skin tone.

Valerie Steele, the director of The museum of Fashion Technology, has said that men started wearing pink in the 18th century. She found that men were known for wearing pink silk robes embroidered with flowers. At this time those outfits were considered extremely masculine. Steele also mentions that pink was considered a ‘warlike colour’ because it was a ’diminutive of red.’ This way of thinking clearly got lost through the changes of society.
The early 1900’s saw the first pink dress shirt - designed by Brooks Brothers - this shirt soon became a huge hit. Initially it was meant to target female students, but soon caught on with college guys, it suited their ‘Ivy League look.’
Pink is a great way to catch the eye of a women. Studies show that the reason women love pink so much is in our biology. During the study they tested people who love blue, the study showed that women tended to like the reddish- purple hues of blue and the men gravitated towards the more greenish-yellow blues.
The theory behind this is that men were hunters - and women were gatherers, picking red fruit was their speciality, and that is the connection to their love of pink. Another theory is that pink is a romantic colour - made of red and white a mix of passion and purity.
Society may have evolved but biology clearly hasn’t. Women like men in pink - some even admit to loving it! So if you want to get all the ladies, forget all that pink is girly nonsense and strut your stuff!

Because society has evolved to recognise pink as a girly colour, not many men feel comfortable wearing it. Very few men wear pink, therefore if you wear that beautiful combination of red and white, you will definitely stand out, thus making you seem more powerful.
Pink has also been used to represent power throughout history. In 1991 pink ribbons were given to those who ran the New York survivors race. Just one year later the same pink ribbons became the official symbol of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

In 2012 an interesting study by Cotton USA showed that men who wear pink earn about $1200 more per year than men who wear other colours! These men were also shown to impress female colleagues more and perform with a higher level of confidence.
You could even pretend your Chuck Bass!

Pink is such a versatile colour - in fact any skin tone works well with some kind of pink. Men with darker complexions tend to work with lighter shades of pink, whereas, guys with fair-toned skin work well with darker shades of pink. Deeper shades of pink should be worn in small quantities as they tend to draw attention away from everything else. Wear this shade on items such as - pocket squares or ties.
Pink can look great with either formal or casual attire, a black and white suit that needs brightening up or just a pink t-shirt with black jeans. These combos give you a youthful vibe and make you stand out.
If you are not already digging through your draws to find a pink shirt, you clearly don’t want money, women, power or success. We need to save this amazing colour from the stigmas that society has created, give it a chance.
Thanks for reading! xx
